How does online training work?
Online training allows you to work when and where it suits you. All the courses are made up of units of competency that lead to either a full qualification or part thereof. You can select a course or program that may be completing
an entire course online, or just one or two units of competency focusing on a particular learning outcome.

What is nationally accredited Training?
Training Packages are made up of endorsed standards and qualifications specific for Industry. These recognise skills and knowledge required to work within these Industries. Qualifications and statements of attainments achieved through
these specifications are recognised throughout Australia regardless of where or how the qualification was gained.

What does competency based training mean?
Under the Competency Based Training system, you will be assessed as Competent or Not Competent. It is not a graded system as in schools or Higher Education, but is based on the achievement of competence in the underpinning skills and knowledge required for each unit of competency.

What are prerequisites?
Sometimes to complete a Unit if Competency you must have already completed prior training. These are known as prerequisites. Details of any prerequisites for your course will be detailed in the course information.

How do I enrol for my course?
Just select the ‘Enrol Now’ button on the course that you wish to participate in, or contact us by phone or email and we will help you with your enrolment.

How long is my enrolment?
This will depend on the course or qualification you enrol in. Each is different. The enrolment period will be clearly displayed on each course.

Payment can be:

How long does my certificate last?
Certifications are usually valid for the period of two training package upgrades; however you must ensure you remain current in the underpinning knowledge and skill pertaining to the certification. In the case of courses such as Occupational Health and Safety official organisations recommend refresher training every 12 months to maintain currency and top of mind understanding.

Where can I find further information?
The student handbook contains a range of information about training, code of conduct and policies and procedures. It is important that you take the time to read through this thoroughly. You can access the student handbook at any stage and we recommend you do this before you enrol in any of CTG’ courses.

What if I do not have a workplace to base my assessment tasks on?
Relax, we provide fictional workplaces so you can base your assessments on these. You could also arrange to volunteer your services in a workplace or associates business if an actual workplace is required. This requirement will be provided in the course information.

Will my course or qualification by recognised by others?
Yes, we are a registered training organisation and have passed the rigid audit requirements to become such. You can check us out on the National Training Information Service (NTIS) web site: www.ntis.gov.au

How will I need to set up my computer?
Your monitor
Set your monitor size to at least 800x600 or 1024x768. To do this in:
- Windows
- Go to Start,
- Settings, Control Panel, Display
- Macintosh
- Go to the Apple menu, Control Panels
- Monitors & Sound
Your software
Web Browser:
You'll need one of these web browsers:
- Internet Explorer 6 or higher
- Mozilla Firefox 3 or higher
- Google Chrome
- Apple Safari 3
Adobe Flash Player:
You'll need version 6 or higher for the Flash player. If you don't have this, you can download this at www.adobe.com
Go to Downloads, and click on Get Flash Player (it's a fairly quick download). Then just follow the on-screen instructions.
Acrobat Reader:
You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader version 6 or higher. If you don't have Adobe Acrobat Reader, then you should download a free copy of Acrobat Reader at: www.adobe.com.
Click on Get Acrobat Reader (if you're on a dial-up modem connection they provide a basic version of the Reader software for faster download). Then just follow the on-screen instructions.
Word processing:
You will need to be able to read word processed documents, if you do not have Microsoft word on your computer, you can download a free viewer from the Microsoft website which enables you to read Microsoft Word documents: Word Viewer
The page is too small
You might have too many toolbars open and/or your browser icons might be set at too large a size. To change this, in Internet Explorer go to View, Toolbars on the main menu and check or uncheck toolbars.

I have Flash player, but I still can't play the sound files.
You could be running an earlier release of the Flash Player. This could mean that you won't be able to listen to the interviews and other sounds in the units. There's always a text version of these for you to read, but if you want to hear the real thing, do this:
- Go to the Windows Start menu
- Select Search (or Find in Windows 98), then For Files or Folders....
- Type Flash.ocx in the box Search for files of folders named
- Select Search Now
- When the file is found, it will be listed in the right hand side panel.
- Close all browser windows
- Select the file and delete it
- Restart the course
How do I turn JavaScript on?
Your enjoyment of the site will improve if you enable JavaScript on your browser. To do this, follow the instructions below:
Internet Explorer 6
- Go to Tools, Internet Options from the main menu
- Select Security tab
- Go to Custom Level.
- Scroll down to Scripting
- To enable JavaScript, make sure the Enable radio box
- Is selected under Active scripting.
- To disable JavaScript, make sure the Disable
- radio box is selected under Active scripting.
- Select OK, then OK again.
The back button does not work properly
If you use the browser back button, you may sometimes have to click it twice or more to go back one screen. We recommend you use the navigation menu inside your Unit project to move around the Unit rather than using the back button on your browser’ menu bar.
